Caring for your diamond
A diamond is the hardest natural material on earth, but the setting around it is not. A few considered habits will keep both stone and setting at their best.

Day to day
Take the piece off before sleep, exercise, and any contact with chlorine or harsh cleaners. Skin oils and soap film are the most common reasons a diamond looks dull. Both wash off with warm water and a soft brush.
Cleaning
Soak in warm water with a drop of dish soap for ten minutes. Brush gently around the setting with a soft toothbrush. Rinse, pat dry with a lint-free cloth.
Annual service
Have the setting checked by a jeweller once a year. Prongs loosen with wear; a five-minute inspection prevents a lost stone.
